WATERCOLOURS OF THE ARCTIC

In July 2008, I joined a small group on board a yacht called "Jonathan". We sailed from Longyearbyen in Svalbard for ten days.  These are the paintings I have done since my return:

 

                    Approaching our first polar bear (she was on the little island on the right)

 

   Polar bear studies: "first she considered her position....."

"....then she took the plunge, and swam to the next island"

 

 

 "After shaking herself like a dog, she playfully rolled in the snow.....

         

                            

 

 "......when we left her, she had settled herself down for a snooze"       

 

 

 Were we lucky, or were we lucky? I hope these paintings and studies express my delight and thankfulness at having been so priveledged to see all this.
