"This was such a magical experience, I feel I must share it with you...so here you'll find lots of photos, a few sketches and paintings, and some inadequate words from the diary I kept whilst I was priveledged to be in this most pristine of environments" Rosemary

First of all, a gallery of paintings I have done since my return:

The Noorderlicht anchored in Trygghamna harbour on our first night out on the boat. We occasionally saw this beautiful old schooner, always in remote and beautiful locations...a tremendous sight, though there were occasions when I thought "I wish we were here on our own!"

This is a painting showing our boat "Jonathan" anchored somewhere off the northwest coast of Svalbard. On our way back, we sailed into another beautiful, sparkling fjord:

We didn't know it then, but we were about to spend the next three hours watching a polar bear from very close range...fantastic!!:

There are more paintings of polar bears on view on my Gallery page.

A few photographs from our trip:

This is me trying to capture walruses (on paper, that is) And here is the real thing:

Perfect reflections:

And huge walls of ice:

We drifted amongst the pack ice:

On occasions we ventured ashore...always on the watch out for polar bears...

Speaking of which:

This was our group...a very shifty lot (particularly that chap second in from the left):

From left to right: Thorbjorn (our Norwegian guide), David, Torben, Me, Richard (my husband), Mark (our Dutch skipper), Will and Tony. Thank you to you all for making this a brilliant trip!
